How to Add a Waitlist to GoDaddy (HTML Section)

Add a waitlist to a GoDaddy site with an HTML section — the widget, plus the hosted-page iframe fallback when GoDaddy blocks scripts.

GoDaddy's website builder is designed for non-developers, but it includes an HTML section that lets you paste custom code — enough to add a GetWaitly waitlist. There is one GoDaddy-specific catch: it can restrict third-party JavaScript, so you may need the iframe fallback.

Here is how to add a waitlist to a GoDaddy site, with both methods.

The short answer

Add an HTML section where you want the form and paste your GetWaitly snippet. If GoDaddy blocks the script, embed the hosted page in an iframe instead. Force a height if the section collapses. Total time: 5 minutes.

What you need

  • A GetWaitly account with a waitlist created (free plan covers 100 subscribers).
  • Your waitlist's public ID (for the widget) and/or published hosted page URL (for the iframe).
  • A GoDaddy site you can edit (Website Builder or Websites + Marketing).

Step 1 — Get your embed code

In GetWaitly, open the waitlist and go to Widget. Copy:

Script tag:

<script src="https://getwaitly.com/widget.js" defer></script>

Container div:

<div class="gw-widget" data-waitlist-id="YOUR_WAITLIST_ID"></div>

Use the waitlist's public ID, not the URL slug.

Step 2 — Add an HTML section in GoDaddy

  1. Open your GoDaddy product page and click Manage (or Edit Site) next to your site.
  2. Go to the page and location where you want the form, and click Add Section (the +).
  3. Search for HTML (sometimes labeled Custom Code or Embed Code) and select Add.
  4. Paste both lines into the Custom Code field:
<div class="gw-widget" data-waitlist-id="YOUR_WAITLIST_ID"></div>
<script src="https://getwaitly.com/widget.js" defer></script>
  1. If the form is cut off or the section collapses, set a Forced Height of about 400–600px.
  2. Click Preview, then Publish.

Step 3 — If the script is blocked, use the iframe

GoDaddy may restrict external JavaScript in HTML sections for security. If the widget does not render, embed GetWaitly's hosted page in an iframe instead — iframes are generally allowed.

First publish your hosted page in GetWaitly (it lives at getwaitly.com/w/your-id), then paste this into the HTML section:

<iframe
  src="https://getwaitly.com/w/YOUR_WAITLIST_ID"
  width="100%"
  height="600"
  style="border:0;"
  title="Join the waitlist"
></iframe>

Set the section height (or Forced Height) to at least 600px so the form has room.

Step 4 — Site-wide code (some plans)

Some GoDaddy plans offer header/footer code injection under Settings. If you see Header Code and Footer Code fields, you can load the widget script once there:

<script src="https://getwaitly.com/widget.js" defer></script>

Then place only the container div in the HTML section. If those fields do not exist on your plan, use the HTML-section method above for each page.

Step 5 — Test it

Click Preview, and always check the published site in a private window. Submit a test email and confirm the subscriber appears in your GetWaitly dashboard. If the section is blank, increase the height and, if needed, switch to the iframe method.

GoDaddy-specific gotchas

  • Script restrictions. GoDaddy may block third-party JavaScript in HTML sections. Iframes are the reliable fallback.
  • HTTPS only. Your code must load resources over HTTPS. GetWaitly's widget.js and hosted page are HTTPS, so this is fine.
  • Forced Height. HTML sections can collapse or clip. Set a fixed height (400–600px) if the form is cut off.
  • Do not add jQuery. GoDaddy's builder relies on its own jQuery; loading another version can break the editor. The GetWaitly snippet does not use jQuery, so it is safe.
  • Keep it one section. Paste the div and script together in the same HTML section so they render together.

Alternative: link to the hosted page

If GoDaddy blocks both scripts and iframes, or you want the simplest path, publish the hosted page and link to it from a GoDaddy button. The signup happens on getwaitly.com/w/your-id, and you avoid custom code entirely.

FAQ

Does GetWaitly work on GoDaddy?

Yes. Paste the widget snippet into a GoDaddy HTML section, or embed the hosted page in an iframe if GoDaddy restricts scripts. Both methods work on GoDaddy's Website Builder / Websites + Marketing.

Why is my GoDaddy HTML section blank?

Two common causes: GoDaddy blocked the external script, or the section has no height. Try the hosted-page iframe and set a forced height of about 600px.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. You paste two lines into an HTML section. If you use the iframe fallback, it is a single block of text.

Can I add the waitlist to every GoDaddy page?

Some plans offer header/footer code injection under Settings — load the script there and place the div per page. If your plan lacks it, add an HTML section to each page, or link to the hosted page from your navigation.

Will the waitlist match my GoDaddy design?

The widget and hosted page use your GetWaitly accent color and font. They will not inherit GoDaddy's theme styles. You can change the branding in GetWaitly settings at any time.

Is the free GoDaddy plan enough?

The HTML section is available in GoDaddy's website editor. Custom code injection fields may depend on your plan. GetWaitly itself is free to start (100 subscribers).
