How to Add a Waitlist to Notion (Embed Guide)
Add a waitlist to Notion using the /embed block and GetWaitly's hosted page — no code, since Notion blocks custom JavaScript. Plus when to move off Notion.
Notion is a popular place to publish a lightweight "coming soon" or launch page. The catch: Notion does not support custom JavaScript, so you cannot paste the GetWaitly widget script into it. But you can still collect waitlist signups by embedding GetWaitly's hosted page.
Here is how to add a working waitlist to a Notion page, plus what to do when you need referrals and emails.
The short answer
Publish GetWaitly's hosted page, then type /embed in Notion and paste the hosted page URL. Notion renders the waitlist form inline on your page. No code, no script — just a URL. Total time: 2 minutes.
What you need
- A GetWaitly account with a waitlist created (free plan covers 100 subscribers).
- Your waitlist's hosted page published at
getwaitly.com/w/your-id.
Why not the widget script?
Notion blocks custom JavaScript for security. The GetWaitly embed widget relies on a script tag, so it cannot run inside Notion. The hosted page, by contrast, is a full page served by GetWaitly — Notion can embed it in an iframe without running any of your code. That is why the hosted page is the right tool here.
Step 1 — Publish your hosted page
In your GetWaitly dashboard, open the waitlist and publish the hosted page. Set your headline, description, accent color, and font — this is what visitors will see. Your page lives at:
https://getwaitly.com/w/YOUR_WAITLIST_ID
Copy that URL.
Step 2 — Embed it in Notion
- Open the Notion page where you want the waitlist.
- Type
/embedand press Enter, or use the Embed block from the/menu. - Paste your hosted page URL and click Embed.
Notion creates an inline embed of your waitlist. Drag the block's bottom edge to give it more height — forms need room, so start around 600px.
Step 3 — Or link to it instead
If the embed feels cramped, link to the hosted page instead. Add a page link, a bold call-to-action, or a callout block:
Get early access → Join the waitlist
The signup happens on GetWaitly's polished page, in its own tab. This is often the cleaner option on mobile.
Step 4 — Test it
Open the published Notion page (not just the editor) and submit a test email. Confirm the subscriber appears in your GetWaitly dashboard. If the embed is blank, add height to the block or switch to the link option.
What you get from the hosted page
- A styled signup form matching your accent color and font
- Optional name, phone, and custom fields
- Referral links and queue positions (Starter plan and above)
- Broadcast emails with open and click tracking (Starter and above)
- Analytics: views, signups, conversion rate, 30-day trend
- Double opt-in for confirmed subscribers
When to move off Notion
Notion is a fine place to publish a waiting list while you validate. When you are ready to grow it, the limits show: you cannot use the inline widget, and a Notion page is not a real product site. At that point, publish a proper page (Carrd, Framer, or your own site) and embed the GetWaitly widget so the form lives on your domain with full branding control.
FAQ
Can I embed the GetWaitly widget in Notion?
Not the script-based widget. Notion blocks custom JavaScript. Use the hosted page embed (/embed with getwaitly.com/w/your-id) instead.
Does the Notion embed collect emails directly?
Yes. The embedded hosted page is a real GetWaitly form — submissions land in your waitlist dashboard with referrals and analytics, exactly as they would on any other site.
Why is my Notion embed blank or short?
Notion gives embeds a fixed default height. Drag the block taller (600px+) so the form has room. If it still looks off, link to the hosted page instead of embedding it.
Can I use Notion for a coming-soon page with a waitlist?
Yes — it is one of the best uses. Publish your copy in Notion, embed the hosted waitlist, and share the page. When you are ready to launch, move to a dedicated page and embed the widget.
Does this work on a free GetWaitly plan?
Yes. The free plan covers 100 subscribers with the hosted page and analytics. Referrals and email broadcasts start on the Starter plan at $5/mo.
Can I collect more than email in the Notion embed?
Yes. Enable name, phone, or custom fields in your GetWaitly widget settings; the hosted page renders them.
